Skindeep deals with the surface and the skin. The surface of people, of objects, of the world. What does the surface tell us? What lingers beneath?

It is a cliché and a fait accompli at once: the outside, the appearance of people and things is of the upmost importance today. We shape, torture and optimize our looks and and we judge the world around us likewise by its appearance.
Surface is no longer a fixed given, but is due to changes and an area full of adventures. Is surface a philosophical notion of ‘nothingness’, that necessarily leads to searching and digging? Or is the saying true that the more you focus on the surface, the more you get?

What does that do to us? How do artists look at the skin, the surface, the outside?

Skindeep is the 4th episode in a series called Modern Times, which asks the question: how do we deal with modernity?
